The Brief:
Create an eCommerce web site that reflects the character of Edge and allows easy management of store information and products.
The Concept:
Edge manufactures a variety of products that have a unique style. The style is a blend of 50s era patterns with contemporary design. The patterns are accented by embroidered designs that are complex and original. To complement the product styles the web site design will use colors, patterns and accent graphics from the products.
The Solution:
The hardest part of this project was to provide a system that allowed the owner to easily manage all the functions of an online store with a simple to use web interface. There are many shopping carts that are available but an OSCommmerce based site was chose because it is Open Source and can therefore be easily modified to suit the needs of the client. The highlights of the design include picture borders that are automatically generated for a product image and a custom layout script that positions the product images depending on their size and number for optimal space efficiency.
